I WAS delighted to see the Saturday Essay written by Andrew Vine (The Yorkshire Post, May 21). I have always respected his weekly Tuesday column for his well thought-out and clearly expressed views.

I am so afraid that the referendum is not going to be decided on matters of fact but by who can shout the loudest and make the most outlandish claims.

One solution would be to export both David Cameron and Boris Johnson to the United States (before any trade embargoes are imposed) with the request that they be immediately seconded to Donald Trump’s team.

Now that would be a dream ticket as our trans-Atlantic cousins would say.

I WAS very angry at the biased opinions put forward by Andrew Vine. He is obviously for remaining in the EU. Yes there have been ridiculous claims, but to say that the chief culprit is Boris Johnson is a downright lie.

His argument regarding Hitler was not to liken Hitler’s methods to the EU, but to say that they had the same objectives in mind: to create a state covering the whole of Europe, under one authority, which is exactly what the EU wants to do. So what is the problem, Mr Vine? That is what Boris said.

It is the media people like yourself, who are making something else out of his statement for your own ends.

YOUR Saturday Essay by Andrew Vine seems to be an insult to voters.

Does Mr Vine really believe that we voters really believe that we learn anything about how to vote by listening to anybody connected with the In or Out campaigns?

Boris Johnson’s reference to Hitler was unfortunate and has tended to mask his real point, viz that Germany aims to dominate Europe.

MY cap off to you sir, Andrew Vine, for putting into words
what so many of us are
struggling with.

One problem we are faced with is that so many of our politicians hanker after the obscene opulence of the
Brussels “elite” if they are not in their own version already.
