YP Letters: Frackers will profit at countryside's expense

IS there no limit to the greed of the fracking industry? Not content with having licences to frack from the Lancashire coast in the west to the Yorkshire coast in the east and from North Yorkshire in the north to the Midlands in the south, it now considers it essential to drill horizontally under the, until now, protected North York Moors.

It is further evidence of their “couldn’t care less” attitude to the environment, our beautiful countryside and its inhabitants.

YES, fracking should be allowed, with safeguards for the national parks, but fracking is now in the national interest otherwise we will have to rely on overseas supplies for a vast amount of our energy needs (Tony Lodge, The Yorkshire Post, January 6).
