Wakefield MP Mary Creagh is mistaken to say that the EU has kept the peace in Europe since 1945.

IN 2,000 years of European history, the EU has seen 70 years of peace, writes Mary Creagh MP (The Yorkshire Post, February 25). She seems to ignore Nato and the UN and apparently forgets that the EU only came into existence in 1993. Such blatant misrepresentation of fact seriously undermines her credibility.

From: Simon Barber, Digley Road, Holmbridge, Holmfirth.

Mary Creagh’s claim that the EU has brought peace to Europe deliberately ignores Nato and the fact that Labour wants to leave this organisation. It is Nato that is defending the Baltic countries against Russia.

THE Conservatives who favour staying in the EU are excelling themselves in the art of misinformation. The Defence Secretary made a statement to the effect that it was only because we are in the EU that we were able to impose sanctions against Russia when it invaded Ukraine. Has he forgotten that it was the EU trying to recruit Ukraine, and causing the overthrow of their democratically-elected government, that prompted Putin to invade?

I would like to know when the media, the BBC in particular, are going to step up. Why don’t they train their reporters to ask knowledgeable questions?

From: Terry Duncan, Greame Road, Bridlington,

I PRESUMED that whenever the Prime Minister returned from meetings he produced minutes of them which were then printed. Have any of the UK public ever seen his reports, or are they being concealed by his head of the Civil Service?

After all, David Cameron has made dozens of trips in the past few months. Can the British public be permitted to see verbatim reports of his meetings with Euro leaders?

IT comes as no surprise our Labour MPs want us to stay in the EU. Let us not forget these are left-wing politicians toeing the party line with a hidden agenda to create a near Communist state. In, effect this is what the EU is.

How can unfettered immigration possibly help people in our area?

From: Coun Tim Mickleburgh (Lab), Boulevard Avenue, Grimsby.

WHERE is the mainstream Labour figure to give succour to those of us opposed to EU membership but who don’t want to ally ourselves with the likes of Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson? In 1983 we fought a General Election promising EU withdrawal, so surely there must be some MPs still around to join the outers.
