I AM an octogenarian so the outcome will not affect me for long one way or the other, but I am voting to leave the EU. For the sake of future generations, this is our only chance in a lifetime to govern our own country.

From: Tim Hunter, Farfield Avenue, Knaresborough.

THOSE who want us to remain in the EU are effectively saying that robbery is acceptable. They are claiming that we should be grateful for a “discount” – if we just agree to be robbed.

From: Mr J Bore, Hornsea.

IF we leave the EU, the UK Government will have no say in any European Union affairs or decisions. But the UK Government will have the sole

power to decide upon its own response to any European Union decisions that may affect the UK.

From: G Lawrence, Sheffield.

IF we opt to stay, our influence will be seriously diminished: we’ll be in no position to escape the overloaded bureaucracy in Brussels as it attempts to grapple with its endemic problems and its outrageous, one-eyed ambitions.

From: Karl Sheridan, Selby Road, Holme on Spalding Moor.

THE Government is scaring pensioners into thinking they will lose out if we leave. Having listened to Iain Duncan Smith, I feel 100 per cent sure we have more to risk by staying in.

From: Paul Scholey, Hillam Lane, Burton Salmon, Leeds.

I SHALL vote to leave on the simple premise that although our country may, from time to time, be governed by idiots, at least they are our idiots and we are able to get rid of them.

From: Hilary Andrews, Leeds.

WHAT will the Remain campaign threaten us with next? It feels like we are going to suffer the 10 plagues of Exodus if we leave the EU.

From: Thomas W Jefferson, Batty Lane, Howden, Goole.

DISAFFECTION is being expressed across the EU with the rise of protest parties. The EU is not a “safe harbour” as it has abused the democratic interests of its peoples.

From: Mike Smethurst, Cavendish Close, Rotherham.

IRRESPECTIVE of the result, the EU could tear itself apart in the near future and I would not wish to be any part of it.
