YP Letters: Protesters should try to minimise disruption

I WRITE to express my opinion on the topic of anti-fracking protesters allegedly causing disruption for Kirby Misperton residents. As a vehement opponent of hydraulic fracturing and the ill-effects which it entails on the environment and public health, I support the campaign against Third Energy’s plans to frack at Kirby Misperton.

I do, however, realise that protesters should be cautious 
not to infringe upon the 
stability of daily life in Kirby Misperton.

I subscribe to the concept of civil disobedience espoused by such figures as Gandhi, who advocated a non-violent form of protest. In a similar vein, I implore anti-fracking activists on the front line at the well site in Kirby Misperton to act in a conscientious manner so as to avoid forging animosity between them and the residents of Kirby Misperton.

As a young person, I feel outrage towards companies who seek to profit at a great cost to 
the environment.

With the disconcerting prospect of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park being licensed for fracking by INEOS it is imperative that residents across North Yorkshire become aware of the devastation that could be wrought upon the Yorkshire landscape.
