YP Letters: Tony Blair has lost touch with political reality over Brexit

FOR a supposedly savvy politician, Tony Blair’s attempts to undermine Brexit simply show that he has lost touch with political reality (The Yorkshire Post, January 5).

The tectonic plates have shifted. The onus is upon those who would remain in the EU to explain what that would look like.

To suppose we can just slip back into the EU as if nothing has happened is absurd. The euro will not survive the next global downturn without the kind of political and economic integration that is anathema not only to us but to many in the Eurozone. Even if those reforms were achieved, they would lead to a two-speed Europe, with the UK being marginalised.

So what are the Remainers offering us? Do they know? Have they even thought seriously about it? If not, they are being irresponsible.

WHY would anyone in their right mind want to listen to, or take note, of anything said by Tony Blair, an individual whose leadership was questioned by many during, and certainly after, his time in No 10?

He is clearly an EU supporter who now suggests the British public should stand firm for another vote on Brexit. The man has clearly “lost the plot”. The country held a referendum and the vote was “Out”.

He, and those like him, should stop bleating and simply get on with it. People should take no notice of the likes of Mr Blair who appears to have done little for the good of the country.

TONY Blair needs to realise that he is no longer Prime Minister. The public has rejected his ideas and now he must bow out as gracefully as he can muster.

Nigel Farage made it quite clear what would have happened if “Remain” had narrowly won. Before the EU referendum results started coming in, and when he thought that his side had narrowly lost, he made it quite clear that, as far as he was concerned, this would not be the end of the matter, and that they would be pushing for another referendum in the future.

In addition there would have been numerous claims of foul play, stating that their loss was due to the last minute extension of the voter registration deadline, and/or because Remain had run an unfair campaign.
