A Comic Relief-funded report by Bedfordshire University on child exploitation, released in October 2011, found:
75 per cent of councils in the UK have failed to implement government guidance to protect children from sexual exploitation;
Young people, their families and carers receive awareness raising in less than half of the country;
The prosecution of abusers is rare and young people’s experience of court can be intolerable;
Some young people are purposefully trafficked within the UK for sexual exploitation.
