Pop star drops in for school assembly

Pop star Alexis Jordan yesterday performed her hit single Happiness in front of a school assembly.

The American-born artist was at Royds High School at Oulton, Leeds, to launch a campaign to boost school attendance and reward pupils with 100 per cent records.

The Give it 100 Per Cent competition rewards pupils across the city by putting them into a draw to win prizes such as games consoles, music players and meals out.

Alexis Jordan kicked off her career aged 14 when she was a contestant in America's Got Talent. She made it to the semi-finals and was later signed by a major label.

Coun Jane Dowson said: "It's not every day that an international pop star drops in at your school."
