Prosecutor Louise Jenkins said Ward, 18, was arrested outside a bar in The Ginnel, Harrogate by Pc David Mackay and grabbed his face and dug her fingernails into his cheek while punching him four or five times and kicking him twice. PC Philip Lacey was also kicked.

Her solicitor, Geoffrey Rogers, said she had acted 100 per cent out of character and could only blame drink.
