Postman delivers computer safeguards

postman Dan Summers has been named the country’s first cyber security champion in a nationwide competition to find the best brains to tackle computer hackers.

Dan, who works in Leeds and is from Wakefield, has been handed £1,900 to study an Open University computer forensics course.

He pitted his wits against 25 contestants who were asked to apply their computer skills to a series of real-life scenarios.

Dan, who has studied several OU courses, said he wanted to move his skills up to a professional level.

The Cyber Security Challenge UK is a series of competitions designed by security, education and Government organisations. More than 4,000 people registered to complete the challenge in Bristol earlier this month. He received his prize at the OU office in Leeds after finishing his day’s deliveries.
