Pottery exhibition ends next week

ART lovers are being urged to see a solo display by one of the country's leading potters.

The show at the Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber by Suffolk potter Robin Welch closes in 10 days' time – on Sunday November 7.

Exhibitions officer Richard Hatfield said it would appeal to anyone with an interest in UK pottery:

"Robin is one of the most highly respected contemporary British potters," he explained.

"He started at the Leach Pottery after studying at the Penzance School of Art and although originally more interested in sculpture, he began to take up pottery under the tuition of Michael Leach, Bernard Leach's youngest son, and worked at the Leach Pottery at weekends and during holidays."

Robin's work can be found in many of the UK's public art collections, including that held by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
