Power station site strike called off

A strike planned by workers on the Staythorpe power station site in Nottinghamshire has been called off after a deal was agreed to end a row over jobs.

Around 160 members of the GMB union employed by Alstom were due to stage a 24-hour walk-out today,

GMB regional officer Andy Fletcher said “long and difficult meetings” had led to a breakthrough in the dispute over selection for redundancies. Under the agreement agency staff would go before directly-employed workers were selected for redundancy.
