Praise for school makeover that’s on time and on budget

THE first phase of a multi-million pound redevelopment of one of Sheffield’s most popular schools has been completed, changing the face of education on the site.

Developers have described the refurbishment of Notre Dame High School, in Fulwood, Sheffield, as challenging and still have some work to do on the £9m to scheme.

It was the 16th school to be developed under the £350m building schools for the future programme, run by Sheffield Council and VINCI Construction UK.

The makeover of the Catholic high school, which sits in 20 acres of grounds, included the construction of classrooms and a new kitchen.

Headteacher Jane Willis said: “It seems no time since the building work began, but the results are outstanding. We are delighted with the outcome.

“It feels like a whole new modern school while at the same time retaining the special features we have always prized.”

Councillor Jackie Drayton, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for education said: “We are lucky to still be able to continue with our building schools for the future programme.

“Pupils should be able to work in up-to-date facilities so it is great to see schools being completed on time and on budget.”
