Princess Royal to visit Great Yorkshire Show

THE Princess Royal will be the star guest on the opening day of this year's Great Yorkshire Show, it was announced today.

Princess Anne will tour England's biggest farming and countryside show, and will meet visitors, staff and exhibitors at the 250 acre Great Yorkshire Showground on the edge of Harrogate town centre.

Bill Cowling, Honorary Show Director said: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming Princess Anne in July. She is well known as a huge supporter of rural life and her interest and knowledge of all things equine is renowned. I am sure she will have a super time with us, and her visit will give an extra reason to come to what is England's premier show."

The three-day show, which begins on July 13, is the 152nd. Last year 130,000 visitors came through the gates.

The show is no stranger to royal visitors. In 2008, The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were guests of honour, and two years earlier, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall toured the show. Princess Anne last visited the Show in 1992.
