Prison sentence for noisy neighbour

A MAN who made so much noise that he was deemed to be putting his neighbours' health at risk has been jailed for 30 days.

Ivan Walker, 44, of Lowedges Crescent, Sheffield, already had an injunction in force banning him from being abusive to his neighbours or making excessive noise.

However, he admitted breaching that injunction and was sentenced at Sheffield County Court .

The court heard that Sheffield Council's environmental services team installed noise monitoring equipment at Mr Walker's flat, which recorded four instances of noise so excessive that it was considered detrimental to people's health.

Mr Walker admitted breaching the injunction, was jailed for 30 days and was also given an injunction banning him from making further noise until November 2011.

Coun Penny Baker said: "I hope Mr Walker sees this as a wake-up call and shows more consideration towards his neighbours in future."
