A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man’s body was found at his home in Undercliffe, Bradford.

Firefighters were called to the address in Rylstone Gardens on Thursday afternoon following a fire at the property which had been reported by neighbours.

When they arrived fire crews found the body of 28-year-old Amjad Hussain inside the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Hussain is thought to have worked for a local takeaway.

The cause of death is being investigated.

It is believed he was the only person in the house at the time of the fire and specialist detectives are now comforting his relatives.

Detectives believe Mr Hussain was killed and the fire started in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor of the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team, who is leading the investigation, said officers were trying to discover a motive for the murder.

“We know where this happened and when it happened, we now need to know why it happened.

“The victim was a much loved husband and father was brutally attacked in his own home and I am appealing to the public of Bradford to provide the vital clues we need to understand why someone would do this.”

He added: “I would like to speak to friends, colleagues or anyone who may have known the victim to help us explain why this incident took place.

“Information from the public will prove crucial to this enquiry and anyone who knew the victim, or can help us understand why someone would want to take his life, should contact the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team One on the 101 number.

“Information can also be given in confidence to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
