A NEW regeneration project is set to get under way in a South Yorkshire former pit village, it was announced yesterday.
Barnsley Council said that it would be teaming up with Chevin Housing Association to build new houses in Lidget Lane, Thurnscoe.
A spokesman for the authority said: “The proposed housing development follows on from a successful funding bid to the Homes and Communities Agency to enable the new-build to take place.
“The proposals are to provide a mix of two and three-bedroomed family houses, and a two-bedroomed bungalow with wheelchair access.”
Prior to planning permission being granted for the scheme, an exhibition will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at which members of the public can learn more about the proposals.
People can also give their feedback at the event, to be held from 3pm to 7pm at Thurnscoe Business Centre in Princess Drive.
