What are the prospects for the property sector in Yorkshire and Humber?
Things really are starting to turn around, which is great news for the region. You are seeing some large deals starting to gain traction in the North generally. The major funds and developers are showing confidence in the prime sites, and this will have a knock-on effect for the whole region in the next couple of years.
What is the best project in which you have been involved?
I was lucky to be involved in the largest real estate deal in 2010, which involved the sale of the “White Tower” portfolio. This involved some “trophy assets” in London, which were valued at £1.6bn before the financial crash.
What is your favourite building and why?
I love the Winter Garden in Sheffield. The building itself is fabulous and creates a great sense of light and tranquillity, but it also creates a focal point for the city centre.
If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?
Have more women in the industry. So often meetings and events are completely dominated by men.
Whom do you most admire in the property industry?
I really admire those entrepreneurs who have set up ethical property companies and investment vehicles.
