What are the prospects for the property sector in Yorkshire and Humber?

Yorkshire and Humber offers the best value for money of any UK region - hence why I recently relocated here. The region is well placed to benefit from companies and people being priced out of London, and is also perfectly placed to capture the overspill from the buoyant Manchester market.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

The project management of a multi-million pound UK distribution headquarters for Sally Salon Services in the North West was a real baptism of fire for me into the world of project management. It involved ripping up and replacing a 200,000 sq ft concrete floor inside a warehouse and creating a purpose-built office inside the existing structure. It was very challenging and great fun.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

Candle House in Leeds. It offers a welcome reminder that architects, planners and developers are capable of working together to build interesting structures that can actually improve an area, its skyline and provide a place for more people to live.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?

Transport. Given the right circumstances and people, it can be fast, efficient and affordable.

Who has inspired you?

As even Alan Shearer never managed to win a trophy for Newcastle United, I will have to give the clichéd response of ‘my parents’. They went out of their way to support me throughout school, college and university.
