£10,000 reward for robbery suspect on run from prison

The Post Office put up the reward after two members of staff were hurt at premises on East Common Lane, Scunthorpe on Monday, when a robber lashed out with a weapon as they tried to stop him taking cash.

The man and woman, in their 60s, have since been released from hospital.

Teanby, 40, was serving 10 years and eight months for robbery, GBH and assault when he was let out of HMP North Sea Camp in Boston for the weekend.

Police said yesterday he may not have access to prescription drugs he was taking and have warned members of the public not to approach him.

Officers have been looking for him in Scunthorpe, Brigg and Leicester, but say he may not be in the North Lincolnshire region any more.

Detective Insp John Symes said: “We are growing concerned as it appears Mr Teanby has not been seen or heard from by family members and has now seemingly absconded from HMP North Sea Camp after failing to return to prison following a weekend release.

“My understanding is that Mr Teanby is currently taking prescription medication and we have concerns that he may not have access to his required dosage.

“We are keen to locate Mr Teanby who is currently unlawfully at large as not only should he be returned to prison but he may also be able to assist us with our ongoing investigation into the robbery at the Post Office on East Common Lane in Scunthorpe that happened at around 2.50pm on Monday May 21.

“Two members of staff suffered serious injuries when they tried to stop the suspect from stealing a quantity of cash so it is important that we arrest the person responsible for this incident in order to prevent them from carrying out any further robberies.

“I would urge the public not to approach Mr Teanby as he may present a threat while trying to avoid returning to prison so my plea to the public is a simple one, if you see Mr Teanby or know of his current whereabouts please call police right away.”

Eithan is 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins, stocky and with dark brown greying hair. He was last seen in a faded navy T-shirt, red or brown hooded tracksuit top, light jeans, a red baseball cap and boots. He was carrying a long black holdall.

Earlier this week Scunthorpe Labour MP Nik Dakin said he would be taking Teanby’s release up with the police and the Home Office in view of his serious convictions.

The Ministry of Justice said only prisoners representing a minimal risk of escape or harm to the public were eligible for release from prison.
