£10m homes scheme gets underway

WORK has started on the building of 33 homes in Doncaster as
part of a £10m plan for new housing in the area over the next two years.

The homes are a mixture of one- two- and four-bed bungalows and houses and are being built by local company George Houlton and Sons across five sites.

Deputy Mayor Glyn Jones, Doncaster Council’s cabinet member for equalities, cohesion and housing, said: “I am delighted to announce these new homes for Doncaster which follow hot on the heels of developments beginning at Carr Lodge in Balby and the completion of homes in Bentley.

“Doncaster needs to build new homes.

“ We have a large waiting list and growing population and for the general regeneration of the town we need to ensure that we build new properties.

“These new homes are distributed across several locations in the borough and will be affordable, energy efficient and fit for modern life.”

The new homes are due to be completed in September 2014.

Work has already started on the first phase of a 1,500 home development at Carr Lodge.
