£19,000 boost for racing charities

A RECORD £19,000 has been raised for North Yorkshire and horse racing charities by the Middleham Stables Open Day.

More than 7,500 people attended the popular annual event on Good Friday at one of Britain’s top racing stables, near Leyburn, to meet the horses and talk to the trainers and jockeys.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire who officially opened the event, said: “It was a fabulous day out and the total raised for local charities by those who attended is a fantastic achievement.
