£1m plan to improve village sewage system

A £1M plan to improve a village’s sewers is under way at Westwoodside in North Lincolnshire.

To help the sewers handle more rainfall, Severn Trent Water is spending the money to install larger sewers and a new pumping station, which will help to prevent future sewer flooding in the area.

So that Severn Trent can improve the sewer system, Yorkshire Water will be working to divert an existing water pipe at the same time – the two companies are working together to help minimise disruption. Work will begin on Wednesday and is due to be completed in January.

Severn Trent’s Tim Sawyer said: “We know that homes on Westmoreland Close and Park Lane have suffered from sewer flooding in the past; our £1m work will help to prevent that from happening again in the future.”
