£200,000 revamp for Dales homes

SCORES of residents in the Yorkshire Dales are benefiting from a £200,000 improvement scheme to replace doors and windows on their properties.

Richmondshire District Council announced yesterday (that it is conducting the latest phase of renovations to 120 of its houses, bungalows and flats.

The work is part of the council’s home improvement programme, which is carried out each year. Heating, kitchens, bathrooms, roofs and chimneys have also been replaced in other council properties.

Richmondshire District Council’s housing spokesman, Coun Peter Wood, said: “This work is part of the council’s on-going commitment to improve living conditions for our tenants – window renewal is a crucial part of this. It’s really good to see our programme converted into practical improvements which have a positive impact on people’s lives.”

The work has been targeted at towns and villages including East Witton, Middleham, Gunnerside and Eppleby as well as Hunton, Barton, Richmond, Patrick Brompton, East Layton, Newton le Willows and Croft on Tees.
