Public grilling for resort politicians

SCARBOROUGH’S political leaders are set for a public grilling at a new open forum event.

The Scarborough Urban Area Forum has arranged a special event giving residents across the district the chance to ask questions of a panel comprising the local leaders of each political party.

The forum held a similar meeting in June where residents posed their questions to a panel of senior officers from the various local authorities.

Chair of the forum, Lindy Rowley said: “The forum’s support group is very keen to give residents an opportunity to speak directly to local decision makers

“Our theme this year is all about democracy and making sure that residents can get involved and understand in local politics and are able influence local decisions, this question time event is an exciting way of making this happen.”

The members on the panel include Coun Derek Bastiman, Coun Peter Popple, Coun Geoff Evans, Coun Eric Broadbent and Coun Dilys Cluer.

The event takes place at 7pm on Wednesday September 14 at Scarborough Library on Vernon Road.
