Punter foils attempted robbery at bookmakers
The would-be robber, who was wearing a balaclava, walked into Betfred in Princes Avenue, Hull, at 6.20pm on Tuesday, grabbed a female member of staff and threatened her with a hammer.
He then went around the counter and demanded money from the till, but was tackled by a member of the public and ran off before being able to take any.

Hide AdHe is described as about 5ft 4ins, of slim build, was dressed in black, and is believed to have left the area in a silver estate car, possibly a Peugeot, parked in Clumber Street.
Det Insp Jason Gourley said: “These types of incident are uncommon in Hull but clearly very it was distressing for staff and members of the public within the premises.
“Fortunately the public were able to tackle the offender safely and no one was injured.”
