Pupils hit right note as they showcase their vocal talents

MORE than 150 children were given a taste of the big stage when they took part in a choral day at a North Yorkshire school.

Pupils from eight different schools took part in the event to showcase their singing talents which culminated in a concert that was performed in front of parents later in the day.

The youngsters, who are aged from eight to 11, were at Ashville Junior School in Harrogate yesterday for the annual choral day.

They performed a selection of songs from musicals including Oliver as well as tracks from the soundtracks of Disney films before the concert was held in the school’s Soothill Hall.

Ashville Junior School’s headteacher Jonathan Dolman said: “The choral day is always an exciting event for everyone taking part, and our pupils have been looking forward to it for weeks.

“This is an occasion where boys and girls from different schools come together to sing as one.”

The schools taking part this year included Collingham Lady Elizabeth Hastings Primary School near Wetherby.
