Pupils unaware of choices

many Year 10 pupils are unaware of vocational courses open to them once they complete GCSEs, a survey suggests.

A majority, or 63 per cent, knew of A levels as a possible option but only seven per cent were able to name apprenticeships as a potential future choice, according to research for the Association of Colleges.

The online research into the views of 500 pupils aged 14 years old studying for GCSEs also found only 26 per cent were able to name NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) and 19 per cent BTECs.
