Putting a spin on history

The spinning wheels were turning and the looms were clacking at the Colne Valley Museum at the weekend.

On Saturday and yesterday the volunteer-run museum housed in weavers' cottages, near Huddersfield, hosted a craft weekend.

Visitors were also able to see clogs being made in the Edwardian clog maker's shop and many other traditional crafts demonstrated including

corn plaiting, lace making and rag rugging.

Members of the West Yorkshire branch of the International Guild of Knot Tyers demonstrated the age old craft of tying working and fancy knots and rope making.
