QBE set to create 100 jobs in Yorkshire

AUSTRALIAN insurer QBE is creating nearly 100 jobs in Yorkshire after deciding to create a claims-handling hub in Leeds to service its UK clients, The Yorkshire Post can reveal.

The company said the move will almost double the size of its operation in Leeds and marks the beginning of a programme of investment.

Joe Gordon, chief operations officer for QBE in Europe, said: “Our decision to create a claims hub in Leeds is part of a global strategy to create operational centres of excellence that enhance the quality of the service we provide our clients.

“Leeds is a very vibrant city with a healthy insurance market and an excellent pool of experienced and talented professionals.”

QBE writes gross premiums of around £100m across the North of England.

David Kelly, commercial manager in Leeds, said: “QBE has gone from strength to strength in Leeds working with the local broker market to provide the right insurance cover and support for our commercial clients.”
