Quick-thinking farmer blocks in fly-tipper's van

The landowner used his tractor and trailer to block the van's exit from his field in the village of Appleton Roebuck, near York, on Sunday afternoon.

The vehicle belonged to a tradesman who was attempting to dump building waste.

He was detained by North Yorkshire Police for offences including illegal waste disposal and driving without a valid MOT certificate.
