Race victim was fitness enthusiast

A MAN who died after collapsing at the finishing line of a half-marathon has been named as a fitness enthusiast who encouraged people to do exercise in their lunch breaks.

Ged Clarke, 39, crossed the finishing line of the Reading race at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday and was immediately taken to hospital.

Doctors were unable to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead later in the afternoon, the organisers said.

Mr Clarke, who was married with two children and lived in Reading, ran a popular Twitter account called @12pmclub which was aimed at encouraging people to exercise.

Friend Janine Lewis said: “He was a champion for a fit, healthy lifestyle. Not just of the body, but of heart and soul too.”
