Racing-car team to make a pit-stop at home of the Blades

The team, which is based in Dinnington and was formerly known as Manor Motorsport, has just returned from the desert in Abu Dhabi where drivers completed their first ever season in Formula One.

To mark the end of their inaugural campaign, Virgin Racing will have one of their F1 cars in the Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane. Football fans will be able to look at the car and ask questions of Virgin Racing chief executive Graeme Lowdon, who will be taking part in a question and answer session hosted by BBC F1 commentator Jonathan Legard.

Mr Lowdon said: "It will be great returning to the team's roots in South Yorkshire and getting an early opportunity to showcase the car after a long and hard season around the globe. After a tough start everyone pulled together so well.

"I am immensely proud of the team we have all built together."

Virgin Racing team principal John Booth, who is still in Abu Dhabi where the team is carrying out young driver testing and tests on the new Pirelli tyres, said he was disappointed to be missing out on tomorrow's visit.

He said: "While I am a Rotherham United fan at heart, my all-time hero is Tony Currie.

"I remember watching him play during the 1970s and being just amazed at what he could do with the ball."

Mike Farnan, Sheffield United's group executive director, said: "We are thrilled and honoured to have the Virgin Racing F1 team with us at Bramall Lane this Saturday.

"It will be the team's first public engagement in South Yorkshire since the end of their first ever F1 season, so we are very thankful to Graeme and the team for making the journey to the game."

Only 110 tickets are available to meet the Virgin Racing team, which cost 50 for adults or 35 for children.

This includes a buffet, F1 entertainment, Platinum Suite seats for the match and refreshments.

Season ticket holders receive 10 off for adult tickets and 5 off for under-13s.
