A robber wielding a metal bar stole a “large amount of cash” from a man outside a Post Office in Bradford, police said today.
Detectives said the victim, a 23-year-old local man, had just got out of a taxi in Manchester Road and was carrying the takings from his business when he was approached by a man carrying a black metal bar who threatened him.
He then roughly pulled a bag of cash from the victim and fled, getting into a silver VW Golf which was parked to the rear of the Post Office building on Carrbottom Lane.
The victim was left with a hand injury as a result of the bag being snatched from him.
Bradford CID would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident which took place at about 12.15pm outside the Post Office on Manchester Road yesterday.
Det Insp Ryan Bragg of Bradford District CID, said: “We are investigating this robbery and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the offence itself, which took place at a time of day when there would have been plenty of people around, or who saw the car make off.
“We have now recovered the VW Golf, which was carrying reg plates NL58 EOG, and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw this car being driven in the city or abandoned on Watty Hall Avenue where it was located.”
The suspect is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and he was wearing a blue and white hooded top, a scarf across his mouth, and black gloves.
A second man, who was waiting for suspect and fled with him in the Golf, is described as wearing an Adidas tracksuit.
Det Insp Bragg added: “This was a serious offence in which a large amount of cash was taken and I would ask anyone who has information to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
