Rape inquiry after girl, 15, is attacked in Rotherham cemetery

A RAPE investigation has been launched after a teenager told South Yorkshire Police she was attacked in a cemetery in Kimberworth, Rotherham.

The 15-year-old said she was walking along Kimberworth Road, close to Psalters Lane, when a man approached her and started speaking to her.

He then forced her into the cemetery and raped her.

Police Sergeant Chris Conway, the officer investigating the rape, said: “This appears to be an isolated incident that happened back in January.

“Anyone who thinks they know this man, or has information about this incident, is asked to contact the police straight away.”

The girl’s attacker is described as white and in his early to mid-20s with a stocky build and short hair.

The rape took place on either a Friday or Saturday night in mid- January, at about 9.30pm.
