Rare antique with Latin inscription stolen from city centre property in York

A rare antique crest has been stolen from a city centre property in York.

The valuable antique, which bears the full arms of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, has a Latin motto inscribed upon it.

It was stolen from a premises in Stonegate some time between July 14 and July 28.

The antique crest bears the Latin words "OPIFERQUE PER ORBUM DICOR", a quotation from Ovid's first book of Metamorphoses.

The quotation translates to "and throughout the world I am called the bringer of help".
