Rare heron seen at gardens site
A green heron from the other side of the Atlantic has made a rare appearance in the UK, wildlife experts said.
The bird was spotted by the wildlife team at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, in the first sighting of the species in the UK since 2008 when one was seen in Kent.
The heron is widespread in the United States and Canada, but has only been spotted here on 10 previous occasions since records began.
