Region to get four youth crime tsars

HUMBERSIDE Police Commissioner Matthew Grove says he still intends to press ahead with plans to recruit four youth ambassadors despite the furore surrounding the appointment of Britain’s first youth police commissioner.

Paris Brown, 17, was forced to apologise after writing violent, racist and anti-gay comments on her Twitter feed before she became the first youth police and crime commissioner for Kent.

Mr Grove said: “I have stated I will look to appoint a Youth Ambassador, and ideally I’d like to appoint one in each of the four unitary areas. Youth Ambassadors would be volunteers and would work with existing youth organisations and schools to listen to the opinions of our young people and assist in the fight to reduce crime by promoting educational messages regarding drugs, alcohol and internet safety.”
