RESIDENTS of North East Lincolnshire are being encouraged to adopt “greener” lifestyles and attend environmental roadshows.

The local council is giving away tree saplings, kitchen caddies and compost at three events this month.

The Love Green, Live Green roadshows are being held on consecutive Saturdays between 10am and 4pm – in the car park of Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre on March 13, at Oasis academy car park in Immingham on March 20, and at Cleethorpes Discovery Centre on March 27.

Kitchen caddies are being given away and staff will be on hand to offer visitors tips on how to use kitchen waste to make compost for their garden.

Every household that visits one of the events will also be able to take home a tree or shrub, and samples of a soil conditioner made from household waste are being given away.

Coun Peter Burgess, portfolio holder for environment and the green agenda at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Love Green, Live Green events will highlight how easy it is to waste less and how small lifestyle changes can have a positive impact on our environment.”
