Residents told to stay indoors
A section of the A1 is closed while firefighters tackle a vehicle blaze involving chemicals on the southbound carriageway.
The motorway is shut in between Boroughbridge and Dishforth from junction 48 to junction 50.
North Yorkshire Fire Service is urging residents at Dishforth Airfield to stay indoors with windows closed for the rest of the evening.
