Resort puts its artistic talent on show
Scarborough Art Gallery learning assistant Zoe Spring puts the finishing touches to part of the new exhibition.
The Pindar East Coast Open, sponsored by multi-millionaire printing boss Andrew Pindar to encourage the seaside town’s artistic streak, is one of a number of eye-catching exhibitions planned at the gallery throughout 2010, ranging from works focusing on the beach hut to the town's lifeboat. The Pindar East Coast Open, which runs from today to February 28, features paintings, photographs, sculptures or textiles all submitted by the public in the countdown to the event.
Mr Pindar teamed up with Scarborough’s fledgling Museums Trust to develop the East Coast Open exhibition offering opportunities for budding talent.
