Restoration plans for ruined route

Moss Road, which runs across Totley Moor, is now classed as a bridleway. However, it has fallen into disrepair due to previous legitimate use by motor vehicles.

The Eastern Moors Partnership will be restoring Moss Road during the coming winter and has been hosting a series of public meetings to encourage people to help them plan the repairs.

The partnership is a joint venture between the National Trust and the RSPB, which manage the Eastern Moors on behalf of the Peak District National Park Authority.

Danny Udall, site manager at Eastern Moors, said: “The improved Moss Road will link up with other new bridleways, offering improved access for pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists to enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of the Dark Peak.

“As this is very much a grassroots project, we are talking to local people at every step of the way and have been getting their input around the design of the bridleway improvements.”
