Retail plan submitted
PLANS for a multi-million pound retail development and sports stadium on the outskirts of York have been submitted.
Developer Oakgate (Monks Cross) Ltd has today confirmed it has submitted the application for the development on land next to the Monks Cross retail park.
The plans include a new 6,000-seater stadium for York City FC and York City Knights, and a 120,000sq ft Marks and Spencer store, creating an estimated 1,000 new jobs.
The Yorkshire Post understands the developer is also currently in advanced talks with John Lewis about setting up a store in a similar-sized retail unit in the new development.
