River search after body in water reported
A man’s body was pulled from the River Aire in Leeds city centre after a passerby’s 999 call sparked four-hour search.
Police were yesterday trying to identify the man, who was discovered by police divers shortly after noon. Emergency services were called to Leeds Bridge at about 8am following reports of a man in the water. Detective Inspector Marc Bowes, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “At this stage the incident is being treated as an unexplained sudden death.”
