Road to remain closed until next week after sinkhole opens in Halifax

Windle Royd Lane, Warley, will be closed to motorists while repair work is carried out and diversions are in place.

Steven Lee, Calderdale Council’s head of highways and transportation, said “Highways Engineers are assessing the extent of the problem this morning.

"Initial reports show the damage extends under the surface of the carriageway and we are working to determine the cause of the problem.

“Repair work will start as soon as possible after this assessment is complete, but at this time we estimate the road closure will remain into next week.”
