Roadworks in store for city drivers

A SERIES of roadworks are getting under way in Sheffield and are set to continue for the next six weeks.

Work to install a new zebra crossing has already begun on Rustlings Road and will involve putting in temporary traffic lights, as well as closing the road completely on certain days.

A spokesman for Sheffield Council said: “A scheme to improve street lighting and pedestrian crossings at Stephen Lane in Grenoside, between the Topside and Middle Lane junctions, will begin next week.

“The northern community assembly requested these improvements that are likely to take up to four weeks to complete. Lane closures and temporary signals will be used during this work.

“Resurfacing work will also be carried out on the busy Ecclesall Road outside the new Marks & Spencer store from next Monday, March 28. The work will be carried out between 7pm and midnight to avoid too much disruption and is expected to be completed by Friday, April 1.

“The work was not done as part of the larger scheme on this road to allow the store’s contractors to complete their own access and drainage works without damaging the new road surface.”
