Robbery ploy backfires

A MAN who claimed he was robbed at knife-point was fined £80 for wasting police time after admitting he lied to police in an attempt to get cash to buy Christmas presents.

The 20-year old from Marsden, Huddersfield, called police saying he had been robbed in Marsden on December 23.

He told officers three men, one armed with a knife, had threatened him before taking his mobile phone and 100.
