Robbery victim chases away raiders

A HOUSEHOLDER punched one of three raiders and tried to set his dog on them in a violent incident in Huddersfield.

The trio, one of whom was just 5ft 2ins tall and skinny, entered the front door of the house in Sunningdale Road at Crosland Moor at 9.10pm on Monday.

They were confronted by a couple who were at home.

“They demanded property from the victims who told them they didn’t have anything and attempted to set their dog on the suspects,” said a police spokesman.

“The man also punched one of the suspects and pushed all three out the door. During this scuffle, the man was struck on the arm. The suspects then smashed the living room window and tried to get in making further demands for property. They were unable to get in and all three made off on foot. Nothing was stolen.”

The short skinny suspect is said to be a white man who spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing a hood and had scarf covering his face. The other two suspects were of a similar description but were wearing dark hooded tops.

Det Con Mick Cummings, from Kirklees CID, said: “This was a very unusual crime.

“It is rare for suspects to try and get into your home when you are in.
