The wife of Pink Floyd star David Gilmour has taken to Twitter to talk about her involvement in helping to rescue a drowning man from the sea.
Polly Samson, who lives with her rock star husband in Hove, East Sussex, was among a group of people who spotted the man in the sea in Kingsway, Hove, on Wednesday.
Following the incident, which she said had left her “weirdly shaken”, she tweeted to a friend: “Could have done with your manly chest just now as pulled drowning man from sea who didn’t want to be saved.”
In further tweets she said a brave man with earrings had stripped off in front of crowds to save the man and described seeing his body on the shingle. She added that the man had resisted help but police and an ambulance crew helped him.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “A man was seen to go into water at Kingsway, Hove, at 1.25pm on Wednesday. He was pulled from the water by police officers and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital. He was arrested and sectioned.”
