Rod saving energy by rocking himself to sleep

Chart veteran Rod Stewart has revealed he is sleeping in a separate room after becoming a father for the eighth time – because he needs a good night’s kip.

The singer – whose son Aiden was born in February – said he beds down alone several nights a week to ensure he is not worn out by the tot’s feeding. Stewart, 66, was speaking during a music industry ceremony in Los Angeles.

He and wife Penny Lancaster became parents again after several cycles of IVF.

Aiden is their second child but Stewart has other children from previous relationships.

He said: “Penny and I had a good arrangement – she said if the baby wakes up you can go and sleep in the other room and he’s up every two hours now. So a few nights a week to get my sleep I sleep in another room.”

The singer is also soon to be a grandfather.
